Volunteer with Best Friends in Los Angeles

We’re so thrilled you’re interested in volunteering with Best Friends Animal Society in Los Angeles. We rely on hundreds of dedicated volunteers year-round to help Save Them All.  There are plenty of ways that you can volunteer for us in Los Angeles. See below for a breakdown of opportunities, locations, requirements, and how to get started.

Remote or Transport Volunteer Opportunities

We have a variety of volunteer opportunities that you can do from your home such as helping us answer the main phone line and helping us manage our social media accounts. We also have local and long-distance transport opportunities that directly help with last-minute lifesaving! If you are interested in learning more about remote or transport work, please email us at volunteerLA@bestfriends.org

Offsite opportunities/Community Service Hours

If you need to complete school or court ordered community service, we have some fun DIY projects you can do such as baking dog treats, making cat toys, and more. All these DIY projects will equate to a certain number of hours. There is no need to create a volunteer account or come in for training. All you need to do is email us and we will send you the DIY projects list/instructions. After you complete your projects, you will make an appointment with us to drop off items/get your paperwork signed. If you are interested, please email us at volunteerLA@bestfriends.org

Immediate volunteer needs (no training required)

Help with our monthly clean-up days or our special events. These volunteer opportunities do not require you to attend volunteer training. All you need to do is create a volunteer account (as instructed below) and then register for a shift under the ALL LA: Events calendar. If you are interested in getting more involved, you can then register for our Onsite First Day Training.

ALERT-The Mission Hills center is a city facility, and as such, we are required to comply with the city vaccine ordinance.
